SeaFest is about sense of place. It is a community celebration to shine light on the cultural, social and natural environment that makes the Salton Sea so special and unique.

7:00 AM – 8:30 AM

The Great California Balloon Race

The race starts at 7 am. Balloons will ascend from North Shore. The fifteen balloons will race over the sea along the Salton Sea State Park shoreline, competing for prize money. This race will be the first of its kind in America. Imperial Irrigation District is the presenting sponsor for this event. All balloon flights are wind and weather permitting.

8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Balloon Rides

Tethered hot air balloon rides will be offered from 8:00 am – 11:00 am. Get your ticket to be in the ride queue. With an advanced ticket, rides are $20. Rides will be $30 at the event. Balloon rides will be in the north parking lot of the Salton Sea State Recreation Area. All balloon flights are wind and weather permitting.

Seaside Market

A Seaside Market will be from 8 am to 4 pm. It will feature local goods, art, food, services and organizations. The Seaside Market is supported by Whole Foods Market.

Vintage Car Show | Greeting from the Salton Sea Exhibit

This Modernism Week event featuring vintage cars and vintage photographs will be held from 11 am to 2 pm.

Kai Wai Club Paddle

SeaFest also marks the start of the paddle season for the Kai Wai Paddle Sports Club. The young people will be paddling from 2 pm to 5 pm. The guest of honor will be Kimokeo Kapahulehua from Hawaii. He is the founder of the Kimokeo Foundation. The foundation was created to preserve and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture within today’s generation and generations yet to come.

5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

The Lowest Glow On Earth

In the evening, the hot air balloons will be tethered to created the Lowest Glow On Earth. We want to show the whole world the Salton Sea in a new light. Imperial Irrigation District is the presenting sponsor for this event.

SEAthletes gives every young person the opportunity to paddle on the sea at no cost to them. The funds we raise at SeaFest help sponsor local teens for a whole year, making a lasting impact for their whole life.

SEATHLETES

SEAthletes is a nonprofit engaging the next generation to nurture the sea. We partner with the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the Desert Recreation District to get young people out on the water.

SeaFest serves as the major fall fundraiser for SEAthletes’ Kai Wai Club, helping to generate new sponsorships for kids.

SEAthletes is organized under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code (IRC). Our EIN# is 47-3265574. We are a public charity. Your donation is tax deductible. Your deductibility limitation is 50%.

Kai Wai Paddle Sports Club

Kai Wai is SEAthletes’ paddle sports club. We provide year-round recreation for young people. The club is based at the North Shore Beach & Yacht Club at the Salton Sea with a satellite location in National City at the National City Aquatic Center. Kai Wai paddles on the Salton Sea in the fall and winter and at National City Aquatic Center all year long.

We give every young person the opportunity to paddle on the sea at no cost to them. The donations we raise throughout the year sponsor local teens for a whole year, making a lasting impact for their whole life.
